December 2nd, 2017 will be remembered as the day that a group of wealthy men paid off the Republican-led Senate to turn their backs on American working families
Lake Zurich (December 2nd, 2017) Amanda Howland, Democratic candidate for Congress in Illinois 6th District, released the following statement on the Republican-led Senate passage of the tax reform bill.
“December 2nd, 2017 will be remembered as the day that a group of wealthy men paid off the Republican-led Senate to turn their backs on American working families.
The hard-working people of the 6th district will eventually pay the price for the revenue lost on the unfair tax breaks that the wealthiest 1% will reap.
Peter Roskam chose donors over district residents when he announced his support and helped orchestrate the Republican tax plan that passed in the Senate. It will take essential deductions away from the middle class to pay for tax breaks for the 1%.
Peter Roskam refused to talk about this with his constituents. This was to be anticipated as Roskam has refused to hold any public town hall with residents.”
