Climate Change

A Progressive Agenda for the 6th District

Amanda understands that climate change is a real threat, but that it also provides an opportunity for us to transform our economy.

As a long-time supporter of investment in green energy, Amanda recognizes the great opportunity America has to invest in the growing green economy. Investment in geothermal, wind and solar energies will create thousands of good-paying jobs here in Illinois and the 6th district. In her role as Trustee at the College of Lake County, Amanda has actively supported goals that will bring sustainable energy to the College, including a goal to have all buildings on campus to be LEED Platinum-certified. Amanda recognizes that environmental devastation disproportionately affects low-income communities, and she will fight in Congress to protect communities disproportionately affected by climate change.

Roskam is a climate change denier who called it “junk science”, and he even voted for a law designed to restrict the number of scientists on the EPA’s Scientific Advisory Board. In contrast, Amanda will fight for a scientific-based approach to environmental policy for clean air, water, and energy. Amanda will also advocate for green infrastructure improvements, such as promotion of permeable pavement through federal incentives – a project that is both good for the environment and our economy.
