Amanda Howland announces the “Power of the People Town Hall Tour” in the 6th
05/19/2017Friday, May 19th, 2017 (LAKE ZURICH) - Today Amanda Howland announced the “Power of the People Town Hall Tour.” This is a series of town hall meetings throughout Illinois’ 6th District, to which all are invited and encouraged to attend.
“Peter Roskam refuses to stand in front of the people of our community and listen. I will and I am starting now,” says Howland. “The foundation of good government is where elected officials listen, and then fight for the values of constituents. This is how I have always done it and wouldn’t have it any other way.”
The first in her series will be held on Tuesday, May 30th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich (This is not a Library-sponsored program).
The second in her series will be held on Saturday, June 10th from 2 to 3:30 pm at the Downers Grove Public Library (This is not a Library-sponsored program).
More town hall meetings are being planned around the district and details will be announced in the coming weeks. Residents can register and view more information on the “Power of the People Town Hall Tour” at Amanda2018.com
“I am vehemently opposed to the Trump-Roskam agenda, which takes away health care, erodes women’s rights back to the dark ages, disintegrates our vital system of checks and balances, makes college even more expensive, and enables big money polluters to have their way with our environment,” says Howland. “Peter Roskam continually defies our community and stands with
Trump and Washington special interests. I want to go to Washington and stop him cold. The fight starts right here. Right now.”
Amanda’s announcement video, that was posted on facebook last week, has gone viral and has been viewed over 50,000 times. https://youtu.be/C9JNpkEwRnY
When Amanda ran for Congress in 2016, she knew that it usually takes more than one campaign cycle to beat an incumbent. Tammy Duckworth, Melissa Bean, and Dick Durbin are prominent examples. Amanda is committed to the people of the 6th District, committed to winning in 2018 and going on to DC to fight for our shared values.
She is a proven vote getter. In both of her races for College of Lake County Trustee, in 2009 and 2015, Amanda won county wide and received more votes than any other candidate.
Amanda Howland is a two-term elected trustee at the College of Lake County.
